Our Great-great grandparents, Alexander Maitland and Mary Grieves Oliphant. Married March 4, 1865, the day of Lincoln's second inauguration. Not that they were Union supporters. He was a confederate sympathizer. Her father was not!
The white diamond keeps drawing my eye...an original designer detail? :-)A very nice picture.Regards,Theresa (Tangled Trees)
Theresa, this was right before the end of the civil war, so I am presuming she made do with an older gown and decorated it - maybe to hide something?
