Wedding Wednesday: Chinn & Walker

From the multitude of Missouri Chinn families, Luella aka Ella L. Chinn who married Ira N. Walker, were married on this date in 1880. Luella "Ella" was my 4th cousin, 3 times removed.

Hopefully, clicking on the image will bring a larger view of the record. I actually had to reload the preview page to enlarge it. Thanks Blogger.

  1. Can you do a post explaining what makes a cousin, to what degree, and what that 'removed' thing means?

  2. Curious about the format of that certificate, as well. Surely they had forms in 1880?

  3. Thanks. I needed a topic for Friday. It's one of the things that genealogists take for granted.

Well, Missouri didn't make all counties keep records until 1910, so some counties had forms and some just wrote it out like this one. Lafayette and Ray counties where our families were from, for instance show no birth records or death records before 1910.
