Too-Too Thursday - Ancestry Nonsense.

Ever go on Ancestry and get results way outside your search parameters? It happens to me all the time. I don't care how specific you are, apparently the databases at Ancestry know better than you what you are looking for.

You will have to click on the image to fully appreciate the results I got. Sigh.

  1. Assumingt it's because the dates were enter,ed as "about " so it grabs everything 19th century. What a pain. You'd think it could still narrow urge "abouts " down to five, or ten years on either side.

  2. Actually on Ancestry it gives you a choice of ranges: 0; 1+/-; 2+/; 5+/-; 10+/-; 20+/1. So it falls way outside the parameters.

  3. What irks me the most is if I enter Pennsylvania on several lines I REALLY mean Pennsylvania. Not some state 2,000 miles away.
